GTOV 1987 stops while start printing

Hi guys...
My GTO V often stops when start printing...when it just feeds paper it s ok...but once i start printing (around 5 to 6 paper through)...then it stops (it doesnt reach the last unit). Some people suggest that there may be a problem with the safety guard switch...or even a loose delivery chain (is this one possible?) Could it be an electrical problem as sometimes the machine small electrical current when we touch. Please help.Thx

sounds like one of the safeties. I would check to make sure there isnt an ink buildup on one of the safety bars or a buildup of ink in one of the gutters right next to the plate cylinder bearers that is tripping a safety when the unit goes on impression. Ive also seen a hair trigger safety that will make contact just from the jolt of a unit going on impression.

Yes...i still do have the problem...

Just got a technichian came over to oversee the prob...but he still havent got a clue either...the thing is...once a paper successfully came out at the table in the last unit..it will never stop...as for the safety...we have thoroughly checked all the points of safety..they seem fine...but i will check them again tommorow...it seems like an electric problem...any clue??..desperately wanting for any suggestion..thanx guys anyway

When the eyes at the headstops are set with very sensitive and you are forcing the sheet into the headstops as you start to speed up the press will buckel the sheet and cause it to trip off. The wheels on the back of the sheet need a few thousand of an inch clearance for when the headstop pushes the sheet back to the regsister point, it's too tight and it will trip. Have a look.

Hmm...but can you explain why once a paper successfully delivered to the last unit...the rests will uninteruptly get printed...i ll have a look tommorow anyway, what do you mean with the wheels on the back of the sheet?...hope to hear more from you...thx

Oh not a stream feed, it's one at a time then. Still it have a trip mechcanisum that is being affected by speed and when the press speeds up it screws up, maybe? It's worth a look right

Hehehe...thanx for the input...yes its not a stream feeder, anyway..its been solved this morning...its an electrical problem that causes the machine is not stable when "impression is on". Thanx man for your thought..

First, you should not feel a "small electrical current" when you touch, unless it is static buid up. You should make sure that the whole machine is grounded to earth. As far as your problem, sounds like it only stops when you're running on on impression. Does the whole machine stop or just the feeder? If the whole machine stops, you may have a problem with the early sheet detectors. Either it is detecting early sheets, or the electrical system wrongly shuts it down. When youre on impression, you are also running at production speed. So, possibly your problem could be linked to the high speed circuit, a guard reacting to high speed. Try a different run speed, just slightly higher than idle speed. See if the problem persists.

YOU'RE SPOT ON.....

Yes...previously we experienced a small electric problem...and thats the cause of it..according to the electrician...there was a cable that is not screwed to its place and making the machine electric unstable and THE MACHINE IS NOT GROUNDED WELL...as it just been moved in to our shop, the previous technician seemed to do a bad installation job, man....wish u came earlier...u woud have saved us lost income and headaches....thx...

I have a question for you...is static current bad??whats the effect??and how to overcome it??thx and waiting for your reply

Static discharges can be detrimental to electronics, people and paper.
Paper is very sensitive to static charges and can be a problem feeding. Make sure the room where the machine is is not overly dry. You can also equip the machine with anti static devices. When handling electronic boards (with power off), make sure you do not touch the components on it, try to do it standing on an antistatic mat if you can.
