hot abdick 360 no good

i run an abdick360 pro and have toneing when it's73 or higher and more than78% hum. the fountion solution i am useing is 2oz abdick 1185 , 1.5oz silver master fountain solution and 1oz of alcohol sub. i can run metal and silver master plates with no stress until the temp goes to 73 then the fountain solution dosen't keep the plates wet enuf to stop toneing even when i turn the water up to max. i clean and desence. the rollers but no luck this happen's every summer. can this be fixed in some way.

That solution mix seems a little odd. In a qt size water bottle my mix is 4oz silvermaster fountian solution, 2 oz mega etch and 20 oz distilled water. Distilled water makes a nice difference in smaller offset presses. More consistant balance. It also removes any water impurities from the equation.

It sounds like your mixing a few too many types of solutions together. If you run both metal and poly try just the mega fountain solution with the etch added. Metal will run fine with the poly plate solution. What type of solution is the ABD 1185? Is it alkaline based? If so the silvermaster is a glycol based solution and the two don't mix together well normally. But there are some wacky mixes needed to get stuff to run sometimes. It takes some trial and error to find a mix that works the best overall.

AB dick 360's have that wonderful integrated water system. Be sure you clean and gum your chrome fountain roller every night. If not you can pull ink into the water fountain and that adds to the contamination.


You can increase the tack of the ink when it's warmer. Get a jar of tack increase. This will help a little. Not a whole lot you can do when it gets really hot and humid and there's no AC. Not much fun for the pressman either.

thanks for the repliy,i have gone threw many mixes with this one it work's good on metal and silvermaster with outher mixes i tryed i would use a lot of water so drying would be longer or colors like greens and lite blues would be motteld. the4-1185 is glycol base i do use distilled water.on the directions for 4-1185 i am told to use 6-8oz of isopropyl alcohol but that's when the greens and lite blues would be motteld. should i go up in hot temps. i have had no luck with etch befor but i will try that. the chrome roller is clean no ink in the fountain but when it gets hot the water seams to transfer less.

What types of inks are you using. Have you thought about a Crestline dampening system?

for color i use braden sutphin pms laser for uncoated for black it is spinks titan dence black. no go on the crestline system.

Those are great inks, try mixing a few gallons of fountain solution and keeping it in the fridge. The colder the better. What type of water system is on the machine. Is it the old style with the copper roller?

it's a rubber, chrome fountain roller setup.i may try in the fridge but i don't how long that will work for

try to use the pink (silver master)fountain sol. mix it strong. i mix in a old 1 gallon jug about 3/4" from the bottom of fountain sol. then water almost to the top to add some alcohol if needed. i also use spinks acryllic inks. it runs like rubber base but will dry,especially with alcohol, like oil. i have the original abdick water system and for me this works great. i can leave the ink on the press for about 5-6 days without drying to rollers. i rarely ever take black out of it.
