what to know how to adjust water & ink ratio

i am having hard time setting the water and ink ratio correctly.
sometime i get too much ink, and some times i put too little.
i ve haerd that it is very important.
is there any way test? is there any way to learn the correct ratio of these two.
i ve ryobi 3302.

i am also having problem with powder unit.
i think its not spraying evenly. i ve clean the wholes with air, at the time of cleaning it seems to work ok, but few minutes later it seems like one side is blocking. i ve cleaned it several times but i still have same problem.

I use 2 oz of Nikken per Gallon.
Stir your powder. Gets too thick sitting in that cup.

The spray unit on your press is noted for clogging. There is a metering block within this unit and it consistantly gets clogged. As for your water/ink ratio...only experience will help you here. I guess what I'm saying is this, you will have to learn by your mistakes and the best thing to do is stay on top of what you are printing at all times. Theoretically, once you set your water you should only have to work with the ink. But keep in mind as the day progresses the machine gets warmer as the air also warms up which means you will have to adjust the water accordingly.

which type of dampening do you have on your machine? Is it Kompac, Moletton (clasical water dampener) ?

When you start up your plates should look shiny because of the water, you want to cut back until they are dull and then keep an eye on things. As you run during the day you will need to adjust small amounts.

Sometimes, when in doubt, I stop the press and look at the amount and condition of ink on the rollers.

A suggestion: Experiment with scrap paper to get a feel of the press.

is it conventional demping or alcolor

No offence, but maybe you should get a tutor to teach you how to print, and it will take time, believe me its not something you can learn in a week, and without getting the fount / ink correct, you will not be able to print at the quality to sell and keep your customers coming back.

Hi first of all make it clear ,i had teachers , in my collage & during my practical life start.I have a degree in Printing & Graphic Arts & its been 27 years i am serving this field.Any how you can not take a good printing unless you have a good ink water balance. I tell yoiu ,ink has a capacity to accept demping solution.It calls emulsion , if it has a capacity to accept 20% water its a good ink .2nd your demping solution must have a ph in between 4.5 to5.5.In heidleberg machines there is an extra roller which countinously supply demping solution to the inking system to maintain ink water balance in start . If you throw demping rollers a little bit early before you put inking rollers & then impression on it will be a little water on the plate & when you will throw inking rollers on it will mix into ink ,making a good emulsion right from production start. It is not posible to get uniform color throughout production unless you have 20% emulsion & ph 4.5-5.5. You may set your ink fountain opening minimum & regulation of ink fountain roller maximum posible to achive good ink balance. The surface tension of water can be minimize ,adding ipa 3% in conventional demping system.These mesure shall work & you wil get clear word [type] , crisp dot & good ink water balance, ask me if you need more ,may be it will help thanks & by.

You must be able to run this machine without any water or spray problems to make any kind of profit. The best thing for you to do is change out your water system to a Crestline or Kompac. They make it so much easier to use. You only have to adjust the ink fountain to the image. As for the spray, mixing it up before you begin printing the good sheets is so important. If you still have a problem with distribution try blowing out the lines and cleaning out the holes with a paper clip. You must be able to set up the machine and get into position and color with in fifteen minutes.

i think its a reasonable assumption here on this forum that anyone attempting to run a press has at the least a little bit of working knowledge of the basics of offset printing and has actually ran a few jobs. although putting ink on paper is not exactly splitting atoms i refuse to negate the years of experience i have by not at least saying that it would appear that you need someone with a little experience to walk you through some of the basics. reach into your pocket and hire yourself somebody even if its for only a short time that can teach you enough to get you to the novice stage. i mean no disrespect when i say this but it seems that your questions are beyond the realm of what can be taught in a forum post
