Just purchased a used 3302 and need some help on something, I'm hope is pretty simple to do. When we try to advance the plate cylinder up or down it wont move. We depress the lever and push in the knob and try to rotate it either direction but the cylinder wont move. Are we doing something wrong? Is there another way? We do not have the operators manual so are learning the hard way. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Good chance the blanket cylinder is frozen to the ring gear. If so take some WD-40 or PB Blaster (even better) and spray it on the operator side of the ring gear where it goes around the plate cylinder. Follow up with hand oiling. Take a small block of wood and hammer use it to lightly tap around the edge of the ring gear. This will help "shock" the gear and allow the penetrating oil to get in there work. If the press as sat for a while it's probably rusted. Also oil the other blanket cylinder while you're at it. This is pretty common from press wash and fountain solution dripping onto the cylinders and sitting causing some rust buildup and freeze. This should do the trick.
