please help me out on my ryobi 3302 I am new but cannot seem to get by this problem

Hi guys, I bought a 3302 Ryobi for a ministry we are doing through a church making tracts. Just starting to print in my life the other day my son and I started it up and printed a little bit we had some problems. However today we started it up I put my bottle of water in right PH etc. Put my ink in and let the rollers ink up. I started with the handle down one click (sorry handle) impression handle one click ingages the water got the plate wet the another click for the ink and another and my paper starts running through but by now I notice there is ink all over my paper all over my blanket and all over my plate and all over my water rollers???????? why what did I do wrong? I don't think the water rollers are suppose to have ink. I have the crestlines on this press. The first time I would run more water and clean up the plate but today was a total mess.

if you have crestlines on the press, first of all screw them down, they should be set so you can only put them down so far. hopefully thats how mine is.
then a small amount of ink on the knife and put some on the top roller and run the machine to spread the ink through the rollers, then put the water in and away you go. the crestlines are automatic dampers and shouldnt be messed with, just loosen off the top screws each end when not in use and screw them back down when using. if you dont loosen them off when not used they will have flat spots as they are soft rubber. hope this helps. ps what plates are you using

Wow! Thank you i needed this. One question to verify when you say put a small amout of ink on the top roller you mean the top roller i am suppose to screw down and unsrew when not runniing the soft rollers which are the crestlines right? How about using some alcohol in the water solution? ya no? Thank you

yeah you got it mate, just screw down and a bit of ink on an ink knife across the rubber roller, then turn the press over to get a nice even coverage of ink on all the rollers. then water in and run.. because the top roller is rubber if left screwed down when not in use you will find it will leave a flat spot and thats not good... dont bother with alcohol, imo a waste of money, i use an ordinary fount about a capful in a full crestline bottle of tap water.. all you have to do is get the ink colour up and keep it constant as per coverage needed. when starting to print put the handle over once and let it turn over about 4 -5 times then handle over again, you should see the plate ink up and the non image should be clean. make sure you have the thickness set on the side of the machine ie for 80 - 100gsm bond should be about 2- 1.5 ish somewhere. these are on the the side of the machine just above the operators buttons. if machine is set correctly you shouldnt have a problem, there are 2 other dials that need a screwdriver to change and are usually set at about .12 - .15 for plate thickness, DONT adjust these, see how it prints first.

I understand the screwdriver adjustment for plate thickness no problem there I understand your 1.5-2ish for the amount of ink coverage on the levers that go up to 10 I think I did have that to high until now. One thing you lost me on is when you said 80-100gsm???? I don't get that one as everthing is in MM I think your talking about paper thickness right? it is like 0.1 0.2 0.3 from small to bigger what do you mean 80-100gsm. now my paper thickness that is 0.1 0.2 etc I don't understand where to set that yet. Right now I am printing on 90pnd paper then I will change to 11x17 gloss for process. Those are the two bigger white dials next to each other one for one head the other for the other but close together in the middle op side. I have the itek 3985 I believe it is which is iteks version of the ryobi 3302 all pretty much the same all my parts I buy is for ryobi 3302 and they all fit right I know AB Dick has the same version also both of which ryobi makes for them. but what is the 80-100gsm? Maybe your refering to my printer for the plates?

you have the same machine as i have, the 80 - 100 gsm is the thickness of the paper. there are two dials on the side of the machine for paper thickness, you have the dials to adjust the image from side to side, and next to them are the paper thickness adjusters. to adjust the movement forward, you have to stop the machine, put the handwheel in and hold the little swith thing to turn the wheel, it has to be taken out or the machine wont start. if you pass me your email adress i will scan the users book into pdf and sent it to you. its a very easy press to run. when first starting to run i put the ink levers up to get the colour, then back down just putting enough ink on the rollers to compensate for the amount the image is taking.
