Our 3302 has been running envelopes w/ good quality all week & suddenly,
its printing a few envelopes with image the correct density & then a few light
& a few w/ no impression and then it goes back to a perfect impression again.
This repeats intermittently. We cleaned any sensors we could fine, but no luck.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Not familiar with this press, and really hope I'm wrong, sounds like a bearing is going. Is this area always in one spot, or does it travel?? If it travels, check the blanket first, but most likely its a bearing.

  • I don't hear any bearing noise & its the upper left address area of a # 10 envelope that its happening on. I heard a metallic 'clink' a few times,
but the impression gets dark, then light to no image & then dark again. If its a bearing, would the plate or blanket or impression
cylinders be loose & is there a simple test to detect a bad bearing? Thanks for the input.

Keep in mind I am not familiar with Ryobi. You wouldn't hear a squeal or anything like that, if there is grease coming out check to see if there is one area that has a silver color. That is your bad bearing. When we've burned one out, the ball on one of em gets ground out which means the remaining ones kind of float around, causing this problem. It could be any of the three cyl.

there is 5 photo sensors on this machine, some quite hard to get at but there is one on the feed table, 1 behind each blanket cylinder, ie if your looking from the delivery youll see the one for cylinder 2, so hard to get at on cyliner 1, also there is one in between both heads looking from operators side towards feed table. this is the blanket jam detector and probably this 1.. you can only get to this one if you position the blanket in the correct position to get your hand in... they are all in the operators manual if this helps.

Thanks Plotter & think we cleaned all these. There's the double sheet detector sensor that we haven't cleaned or checked. Could that
    be the culprit? Thanks much

have you tried just running 1 head to see if just one works?

We were running one head when it happened & we had a stack of #10 white regs on top with 100 classic crest #10's and the
100 white regs printed fine & a soon as it got to the classic crest colored envelopes, we had the problem. Strange. We just thoroughly
cleaned all six sensors & we'll see what happens. Thanks for the input.

there is also a sensor on both cylinder on gear side have to remove covers if cylinder is loose it will wander
away from sensor the bolt to tighten theses are on operator side cant hurt to check 4mm i think

Thanks Spike & we just ran 400 of the problem stock & they printed fine. Hope it was a dirty sensor that we cleaned.
Will see w/ the next few jobs & let you know. Sure appreciate the help.

There are a couple things you need to check, oil get in the electro-magnet and that could make it jump on and off. I have seen wires that are loose fitting and as the machine prints it is enough to jiggle the connection. And third is the though one the sensors need a turn-up, if that is the case PM me and I'll get you the step by step, I hope it's not that for your sake.

Thanks much FSA. We cleaned the oil off the electro magnet when we were cleaning the sensors & that
    did the trick. Much appreciated.
