Komori feeder solenoid

528 komori feeder solenoid was replaced because feeder was not engaging and tapes were not coming on. feeder now engages but tapes do not come on every time you turn on the feeder. After turning the feeder off and on several times, the tapes come on. Isn't there a "clutch" inside the gear cover? Could this be another place to look?

Yes, there is a clutch and solenoid under the feeder gear cover. A sticking solenoid can cause the tapes not to start.

If you look at the brass segments that engage are they worn ? If you have changed the soleniod and have it setup correctly it must be the clutch.Usually the clutch will wear and start slipping during engagement causing first sheets to be out of time, Do you have that scenario going on?
Have you checked if the clutch energizes when the tapes do not engage?
