Help! Looking to start a tabloid size newspaper.

I am a newbie to the printing community.

I would like to print 1000 copies per week of a tabloid size newspaper, which would mean printing 5000 sheets per week.

11x22.5 sheets would be ideal, but 11x17 might have to do. Five folded sheets (20 pages) to start. Printed both sides, of course.

I would like to do my own printing.

What kind of printer should I be looking for to economically print a newspaper for a small community?

With a new startup operation your best option is to take it to an established printing company until the business is established.
