Highly recommend inspecting the brushes on both the slip ring and commutation. Simple to do, remove covers and examine with flashlight. It will be very obvious to even an untrained eye. The slip ring brushes ( nearest pulley) over time wear down so far the the brass holders are running directly on brass slip ring, the commutation brushes on the brake side wear down to the point that the spring loaded "push fingers" can't exert enough pressure to allow brushes to carry current. Over amping due to either condition may also burn up main wiring harness. Be sure that you have all three legs of current coming to machine from house supply!
