Another Static post... Shocking!

Like clockwork, we're now in the midwest fall, and almost instantly, its gone cold and dry. The last 5 months, The igen has been stacking smoothly... starting last week, I Get late to vgt exit 2 sensor and it Wont stack more than 1-200 sheets. when I pull paper off the cart, ZAAAP! I always end up just living with it....jerry rigging the stacker with tinsel, anti static spray....whatever it takes.

I am growing weary and am interested in any and all suggestions, be they silly or useful... even.... let xerox deal with it

paper is 50# offset 14x18, cut from a roll thats been in a warehouse. Then after cut, it sits in my a/c'd room. humidity is uncontrolled. Ive been using the same stuff for years. It's always an issue. Nothing I can do about it.

We had some static issues - especially with PVC stock or magnet stock. The only way I could get any kind of decent output or stacking (and there were still some issues) was to cheat some of the doors (not really supposed to I guess but it helped). I cheated one or more of the doors for the stacker unit and maybe it helped decrease static build up. Sometimes I had to cheat the small skinny door right after the feed trays to get the stock to feed consistently. Worth a shot. Just don't cheat the doors where it could let light in and expose the PR belt.

I just re-read your post - I don't know if my suggestion will help for that kind of stock - but what have you got to lose.

You have the same problem many of us have - conditions are not ideal for storing paper - and yikes, cutting it off a roll? Since we always use flat sheets (sometimes precut and sometimes cut from larger sheets) I always try to bring the stock into the print room and let it acclimate for a day or so. The worst is when you have stock that is not wrapped.

Its only doing it on duplex. I Might try messing with substrate settings....

and...you have no idea. My room was in the 22 on the hygrometer once. lol So even in here, the stock is as dry as a saltine......at least until about april lol

Curiosity on media transfer settings....

going up on transfer number vs down... I usually have to raise it because of snow artifacts... I assumed bringing it down would take static out?

i honestly don't know how it works lol

I'm looking for any ideas I can get! It ONLY does this on duplex!!!!!!!

Hey all im STILL looking for any suggestions i can get here.... i'm nearing exhaustion with this problem now.... heres the skinny:

duplex, 14x18 50 offset paper. should be bread and butter....its what we use in EVERYTHING!

after 50-100 sheets it begins to "FLOAT" as in the last sheet or the last few sheets stay nestled up against the VGT transport. and "block" the next sheet to come out, or, on rare occasions, it keeps the vgt exit triggered....

the sheets are incredibly static shocking to remove, and the sheets are pretty well stuck together via that static...

Repairs, jerry-rig ideas, anything.... i don't care...

does anyone else use a similar stock? its very similar to just regular copy paper. A little more porous maybe.... are my substrate settings wrong? is there a stacker NVM ive got wrong????

With the pallet down, check the 1st and 2nd VGT belt holes are all lined up with each other. Make sure the Vacuum blower motors are working properly with enough vacuum to hold the paper. Maybe check the ground straps for the stacker itself. Clean the anti static bar tips that are at the VGT 1 entrance. What is the humidity level? Do you guys use humidifiers?

Iv'e done all that... but JUST done it again. VGT belts are correct. cleaned belt hole sensors....

Even Raised the altitude of the VGT blowers... also, experimenting with zip ties on the VGT to "detack" the sheets lol As I have for years... not having any luck.

no humidifiers its remarkably dry in here this time of year...... What are your thoughts on getting a small one to blow air into the stacker or feeder?

You should definitely have one near the stacker of it is really a lot of static. Another one around the feeders too.
