Any ideas on what can be the cause of this Halo effect in acrylic gold?
Job color sequence is KCMY+Aqueous coating+acrylic gold.
This is not happening with the coating from different manufacturer. Can this be a Viscosity issue? .... IMG_20151013_153111.jpg

Gold should go down first with a healthy dose of water repellent varnish or binding varnish to build up the tack. Also you may want to minimize trap in your prepress software.

  • Its a water based gold in last coating unit and aqueous coating in 1st coating unit....machine is a Heidelberg CD 6+LYYL

AHHHH my bad Aquazi, Just re read and you did mention the sequence. Cant help you as I've never worked with multiple coating units, but as you mentioned in original post it does sound like some sort of viscosity issue.

Yeah I thought it too but this is how those guys are printing this job for a year or so....

  • @turbotom..... I never worked on a dual coater too that's why I posted here to get some expert opinion.... the only thing that I can figure out is the viscosity.

could be a gassing issue between coatings. what type of coating are you laying down 1st ? work, and turn. high gloss/high rub, satin ?
