    Hello,

printing with xerox 242 and suddenly I am getting grey/light black stripes across printing paper (even printing blank). It gets darker at the end of the print and repeats across paper. It is visible only on heavyweight 2 and 3 paper. On plain paper is not visible. It erases with the eraser, feels like dirty paper stripes.

What should I clean or check?

Tried to make photo or copy. Attached a picture of printing blank paper to see, but which is not very visible.

Hope for the help. Thank you!

I've measured - dirty stripe repeats every 9 cm

Did you already clean the cleaning blade assembly? Or replace with a new one. Toner will build up in the auger over time if not cleaned. Sometimes you have to replace it with a new one.

wanted to ask also - how to get as much as possible consistent color coverage on print media? What should i change and where to look for a problem?
I attached scanned CMYK and the fifth is mix of 4 colors sra3 prints on coated 3 (250 gsm paper), and here you can see there is inconsistent stripes across all colors except yellow. Also some white spots apear on all collor prints. I have done already:
    * change black drum unit with new corotron
    * clean CMY drums, PCR rollers and blades * new 2nd BTR unit
    * all toner cartridges are new
    * "fur" on developers looks consistent and ok
    * cleaned transfer belt 1st btr blades and all unit inside

Glad you resolved that. Thanks for posing what it was too. I think I replaced the 2nd btr rollers once on mine.
How many prints on the drums?

Sometimes I'd get 100% drum use with great quality. Other times one would start printing less well after 50%. Depends on what I was printing I suppose. If you have one brand new color drum you can do a test with it in any of the color positions to rule that out.
How many prints on the developer? After about 400,000 11x17 prints I had to change the developer (powder) to maintain great quality. I couldn't see a problem with the fur on the roller, but replacing the developer powder still made an improvement.

How many prints on the transfer belt itself? After a few hundred thousand 11x17 prints, a new belt made a difference for me too.

Thank you for the hints, machine has made ~1.3 mln clicks and I dont know the maintanance history. I've got it used and started to rebuild for seeking quality prints. Also today got new fuser, still same quality. Then move on further - change developer powder, transfer belt, also get new color drum to compare. I have dilemma to buy a new lets say 2010 original drum (heard they have expiry date, not sure) or get new drum kit from china (as they say Japan made..). Still dont know which suplier to choose.
