Hi guys, Orlando from PR:

Since last 2-3 weeks we are having problems with registration faults, appearing randomly during printing. The glass transport, chrome and sensors were cleaned, we also try with fully reinitialization but the problem persist. Any ideas?

Tech guy said it could be the transport (area 2) not securing in the right position causing to losses during production.

Your help will be appreciated.

Have you done a registration setup yet? Also check the reflectance values of the registration sensors in diagnostics on PSIP. If you have any questions my number is 714-292-6912.

I started getting recently, after having that board fail on the paper supply. Only happens from A1, the feeder with the bad board..

A2 runs solid.

Hi Guys, Just had like 4 days of down time for this one too! absolute ar*e of a problem on the igen 150. Engineers had all sorts of ideas, had an STS in and then finally had a fix.

The print was about 20-30mm offset in process direction so we had the chevrons on the page! Other annoying thing was if you restarted, it wouldn't show until you had run 1,500 sheets. then you would get 10 sheets or so in every 100 that were bad, then progressively get worse, then every sheet was crap. then it would actually jam. So we had a whole stack of 750 sheets or so once that was all unusable but the machine didn't stop once!

The final fix was a bad registration steering motor & wheel. After changing most of the boards in the registration set-up and moving the feeders by 4 mm.

hey milo!

was about to say it happens only cover stock... but no. paper is of no consequence. all stocks....I threw offset text in there, and jammed right away.

comes and goes still. tech was here, of course it wouldnt do it. machine sat over weekend, first thing Monday... reg errors.

clean window. scrubbed wheels with alcohol(again) went into reg sensor component control. on.off everything. and it works. Oh, another thing I did, ran a registration sheet(on cover stock I was using) didnt read it or change parameters... and it just worked after that.

one of the jobs last week, had random skewed print.

very weird.

Some months ago, We also had random skewed prints with out any fault codes. After lots of cleaning and service calls Xerox ended up replacing Upper Registration Transport. By the way I'm talking about an iGen3 here. Total repair time was about 4 hours.

I BELIEVE I have this problem solved.

the metal above the ccd sensors was marred/scuffed. there was 2" long "scratch" I had been cleaning it, but not really looking at it. polished it and havent seen the error in a few days....

nope that was NOT it. the "CCD-L" sensor kept reading high, but I was told many times "that isn't the problem"

well I allowed anger to take me over today, and I changed it. INSTANTLY the reading went from 170-180, down to 80.

Revisiting these two errors.. This is back with a vengeance, and now along with 08-3214 while cycling up. Steering motor. Now working on a plan to replace it.

curious here. this error hasnt ever really completely gone away. COmes and goes...

is there anything ELSE it COULD be, but the steering motor? I asked my tech to change it ages ago, they didnt, because they were knee deep in a failing ROS.

also, how difficult is this one?

i live with it, because I do such short runs, and a jam or two every stacker full is ok.... but every once in awhile, it will escalate....and drive me nuts....

I would get some canned air and clean the sensors that you can reach on the outboard end of the registration nip assemblies. The nip assembly idlers could be bad on some/ all of the 5 nip assemblies also.

cool... planning on doing do some cleaning and maintenance next week anyways..

the error is "steering motor power saturation" Running like a song today, though. only had one this morning.

Do you get any steering motor failed to find home faults (might be Inboard Registration Steering Motor Encoder)? I've had that along with power saturation and it was just a bad belt.

I think we reached the climax of these faults. Its been off and on, and really rare.... Butnow, immediately get this error upon restart, 08-3263. pretransfer drive motor.

it WILL run, but TONS of lateral reg and skew faults... jams... and the prints are completely skewed.

The tech dragged feet repairing for ages,(partly me being too patient) and now i'm screwed. it s a weekend. job wont hit the mail on time.

tech changed inboard registration steering motor. fine for a day. now I am down. skewed print. eventually it jams with lateral misreg, or skew misreg. 08-3245, 3246 upon restart.

Oh 08-3247 CCD 2 calibration.....

what else? anything I can look for that would get me running for just 500 sheets? lol

I'd be curious if all the sensors were plugged in correctly, or need reseats... Having the whole line of CCD sensors failing calibration seems very odd.

Does it run long enough that you can try to watch the paper moved through with the doors cheated?
