Hello all,

At present all we have is a xerox workcenter 7830 and workflow is pdf's in Acrobat Pro x straight to the press.

We have been achieving good results until something odd in the last month on 4 particular orders. We have had quality Artwork in CMYK format but have had to turn away 3 orders in the past month as we have had really odd colour matching problems.

We are now struggling with another high quality piece of Artwork straight from Indesign with CMYK settings, but pinks are red and cyan is purple or wrong shade of cyan.

Ok we dont have a rip but, we have worked this way for a long time with workcenters and phasers and am pretty sure the press itself is without fault.

Any advice would be great, I really cannot afford to turn away another customer.

Thanks,

Michael

Just want to add this, i will be trying the 'generic ppd' driver in the morning. This has helped with other issues in the past but, if anone knows anything else that might help then please say so.

Thanks

  • For long term solution is to buy an external Fiery for this machine.
As you know very well in actual configuration this is a office printer not artwork one.

Yes your right about the rip, but we have been using these office based machines for 15 years and rarely get a problem, until now.

  • How did you solve it?

We have solved it for now. And hoping to buy a 260 or 700 this year.

How? We have the same machine and when we print pdf from adobe reader with picture with blue sky and white wall in a room the sky is purple and the white reddish or with some settings white becomes green and so on.

    Hi,

You have to try every possible setting with this machine, colour management on / colour management off / print as image / Xerox auto / Xerox none / print same as source etc etc, and if that fails you have to use 'colour by words' and tweak the colours.

This is why we are going to buy a commercial machine this year, we have had enough of messing about.

    Hope that helps
