im thinking of trading in my rotaprint alpha90 and ab dick for a 3300 or 3302 ???
is there anything i should look for before going ahead with a trade in, ive never run a ryobi, so what the deal with them, are they good presses, anything major go wrong with them etc. to me they look just what i need, easy to set up, running tight register jobs
All advice welcome

Ryobi makes an awesome press i have a 3200 MCD and a AB Dick 9985 which is a ryobi with the dick name slapped on it. They hold awesome registration and lay down very nice solids.

  • Looks like my new 3302 will be delivered later next week ;-) anyone got a user manual they can send me, like i said ive never used one and would like a bit of prior reading before my new toy comes.. any replies will be appreciated

Good press, but it does have limitations. The issue I have is the infeed mark on the downside at 2.75" is a royal pain in the keeyster.Good luck printing KromKote C2S and not get a mark at 2.75" . Make sure you trade in for a model that has a bare back damps of some sort, favorite would be the Ryobi continuios, lots of water control. Plate clamp issues on late 90's speed clamps. Big repair bill to replace defective plate clamps. All in all it is a versatile little press.
    FSA

I run KromKote C2S on my 9985(also is a 3302) and I have no infeed mark i think you better check your buckle and your feed drum clamps FSA. Crestlines are really nice on these presses. I use it daily and never have a problem. Oh yea and my plate clamps are great and my press is a 1996 so i don't know what FSA is talking about unless we got lucky.

I have the same issue at the 2.75 inch mark. Need to let dry for a long time. No work and turns here

something is wrong with your press if its leaving a infeed mark at 2 3/4 inches. I did have that mark at one point in time but then i readjusted a bunch of **** in feed area and it was gone. if you wanna do a work and turn on kromkote within a reasonable time you need a Dryer of some sort other wise yea i wait to run those jobs on a friday so they have the weekend to sit.

    Hey Ziggy33
I'm not say the mark at 2 3/4 is trashing the image, it scuffs the paper enough that it show up on Kromkote and if it is a pristine job it looks bad, that's what 3300 series presses do with a new lower feed wheel or not they rub the stock and on some jobs it's a problem, that's why we have Heidelbergs. Your press is an ABDick very different plate clamps!

i don't have a heidelberg but i would put my 9985's quality up against one and it would do very well

had my machine delivered yesterday, took a while to get whats what on it as ive never used one before, never used crestline dampers either, but after 2 hours of playing, i think its pretty much straightforward, and i put a full colour job through it. jump in at the deep end eh?

oh yeah, i also had a parts manual, operators manual and crestline manual. as well as a plate punch, i have a standard 25 pin but this is a rp22 or something. sooo glad to have had that.

just thought id update after a few months of owning this press. crestline dampers are superb, easy peasy, registration is excellent and printing solids never been better..
only 1 issue is that im left handed and it took a while to get used to the tight gap between the towers and using my right hand, apart from that really nice press.

i can scan and send it to you but it wont be until sometime next week. whats your problem mate ill see if i can help. im not an expert but after a few months of owning its quite simple to get the hang of

    Operator Manual

Thanks, I've got the manual on ebay.

Glad to hear your 3302 is running well. The tight spacing between the towers can be a bit of a pain if your a tall or big guy (or both). Although better to run a single color on the 2nd tower to reduce transfer, I usually run it on the first just for ease of plate install. I don't recall if the Crestline manual says this, but the rollers will last longer if you back off the pressure at night.

  • love these presses we have kompacs dont have to much marking problems . sometimes will run a bigger sheet size
and miss the feed roll altogether would not be afraid to recomend these presses to any body/ good luck plotter

thank you im begining to really enjoy getting my hands dirty again. i really like the press for what i paid 4 it.
