Saying Good-bye to the iGen Soon... Maybe

So the Company is courting Canon for an imagePress 10000. Anyone heard any particular stories about this machine aside from the typical sales propaganda?

I've been a Xerox guy my whole career, so I'll admit to a bias. Honestly, unless someone can convince me these things are God's Gift to Digital, I'd prefer the devil I know...

looks cool, but not mindblowing.... seems rather compact, which might be nice. Looked into this one awhile back-cant do 14" paper

Yeah, bit confused on going down to a 13x19 max size... We run a lot of 14" pieces so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My main concern is the whole design screams "Operator No Touchy!" which leaves me believing that when that thing goes down, we have to wait for a tech who has all the parts so a 5 minute fix could take 2 hours to happen and it will somehow be my fault.

Going to the showroom for it tomorrow, so we'll see. Rooting around the Canon forum on here and... kind of a ghost town.

We had 2 canons like 8 years ago, I hope they got better !

Besides that we changed the most of our printing machines into 2 x HP indigo 12000, they are really impressive. 1 machine equals the volume of 3 iGens. Been working with iGens for 10 years

yeah if volume is your aim, HP is better. Our sister company runs a HP for bigger runs-We need adaptability. quick change variable.

We've been running two Canon 10k's since they first came out, first ones in the state even, I'm so happy to be working with an Igen 5 now I can't even tell you. The downtime on the 10k's has always been terrible, down for 15-25% of a week isn't abnormal. We put a third of the lifespan on our first one in a year, supposed to last five years. Ours don't hold color across a long run, and I'm not allowed to do anything but clear a paper jam on them.
