Printmaster GTO 52 Forward/Backward problem

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with a GTO 52-5,

When moving forward or backward an individual control panel sometimes it cycles continuously and sometimes only inching but never inching the forward and backward at the same time.
Also sometimes while the forward an backward inching occurs when i start the machine, it runs the fans but the engine doesn't start...

Does the machine normally forward and backward inching or only when the protection is open? What does control this continous cycle or inching?
All the contactors are working fine when pressing the buttons, any ideas?

Hi,
It looks main motor encoder is defective. It's a common issue of that age since the machine stops as "emergency stop". Dismantle the encoder, clean it by blowing air and dip it into IPA and let it dry and check it again.

Hi sir:
1) Normally the press will work, if you press the safety button First for the printing unit, that you want to control, and then Forward or backward, please use the schematic diagrams

2) example, Printing Unit 2 forward : first you must close the safety S110, the relais K110 Close, and then the relais k224 close . now the machine is ready for to execute Forward.

3)now you close forwad button S111, close the Relais K111, AFTER the Relais k111 close, the contactor K244, must be close, and the machine goes inching Forward, this is the way, How is work.

Hi Chock, thanks for the reply.

All you are describing works fine, what i don't understand is, while pressing the forward or backward button does the press moves continuously or should it move in small increments? Cause the problem i have is sometimes it goes continuously and sometimes not... Sometimes does it moving forward and sometimes only moving backwards.

2) brake : a) mechanical problem b) Coil defective for brake + encoder.
