Plate release and take up not responding on Classic

I had my cyan plates run short (My count was off)
I stopped the plating in the middle of plate advance (Not emergency stop)

I can't get the cyan "plate unlock" or "plate advance" to respond.
I can manually advance the other 3 units.

The DI said something like "interrupt in the middle of plate advance"

I have run short in almost every other unit and did not get that response.
I could replace the roll and start over.

I read something about replacing the clutch because it slipped, but this is not even responding???

I have same kind of problem.
-Can´t release/tightening any plates.
-Qmdi ´s PC fans are not blowing.
-On diode screen there is "12 3b" power error symbol also.

The big power unit output ~12V, ok
PC power unit gives anything for fans, all qmdi PC fans off, cooler fan off, power driver module fans off. Qmdi PC still working ok.
No led´s blinking in the power driver module. All swithes "on", connections checked.

Faulty PC power, is this common?
Any suggestions?

  • dbelltlg,

Check your Power Driver board for the third unit. Swap it with another unit and see if the problem moves. The problem may be there.

    Risu,

Your 12/36 volt Lamda power supply possibly needs to be replaced. It has nothing to do with your PC power but is responsible for all of the items related to imaging.

    Thanks Paul,
Is this 12/36 Lambda Power supply same as Lambda 50-12, i hope so.
This machine has been unused for seven years, maybe there is reason for that...

    Update:
Both A4.114.1045 and A4.114.1044 (5v and 36v) power supply missing.
No wonder that machine will not work...

We are having an issue on our "Plus" the cyan plate tensioner is not pulling the plate tight. We have a parts book out but not sure what may be the cause. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Risu,

The 5/36 volt power supply (Lambda) is found in the power box over the PC. It is the one with all the blue wires covered by plexiglass connecting to it. There are fuses in it that may be blown.

    Ron,

Is it not pulling tight when you are manually loading the plates or when it is automatically loading the plates?

    Both.
It is worse as the roll gets smaller (I believe requiring more pulling power). It seems like a motor is losing it's strength.

reading the CP Tronic book it looks like 2M2 Printing master magazine load motor or 2Y1 Clutch for load motor may be going bad. Any thoughts?

There are two different mechancial proccesses going on when loading a plate manually and automatically.

Manually using the DI keys there is a small motor which drives the big gear to take up the new material when loading a new roll. This motor has a magnetic clutch that engages when the DI keys are activated allowing it to drive the gear. If the clutch plates are worn, have oil on them or the magnet loses its power the small motor will turn but not drive the take up spool for the new material.

The second process is when you are to image new plates and the press automatically loads the material. In this instance a very large particle brake holds the big gear in place while the machine goes backwards. It the plate cylinder there are gears that go around the shaft found on the end of the big gear. That shaft is splined and causes the gearrs to automatically take up the new material. In the plate cylinder on the supply plate spool there is a mechanical clutch mechanism whose job is to put drag on the plate material while it is being loaded to keep it tight. If the clutch is set to loose the material will not be as tight as it normally is.

To further help the tightening process the paritcle brake pulses on and off towards the end of the loading sequence to ensure a tight plate.

The clutch mentioned earlier can be adjusted by tightening a small hex head screw which is found on the gear side of the plate supply spool, in the plate cyclinder. Do not over tight this! Wwith a new roll of material in the press activate the DI keys press the clutch realse button and pull on the plate material, it should have 22 Newton Meters of pull on it before it moves. (We used to hook up a fish scale that measured in Newton Meters to the tab when testing this.) If it does not, tighten the hex head screw until it does.

  • If you tighten the plate by hand, do you hear a sound of something is slippery if this is true you have problems with the magnetic clutch motor.

Paul, yes power box almost empty. Only 12v supply + PC power inside of box. 5v and 36v power supply totally miss. That´s the way how one of the Cyprus machine seller works. Did I mentioned that qmdi is also printed 10m more than seller told...
    That kind of project.
