I am currently print carbonless forms on a konica c450 printer. I am thinking the time may be coming for me to upgrade to something that runs cheaper and faster. Right now I am thinking a ryobi 3302 press, there seem to be a lot used ones on the market.

The part I don't understand is how to print variable numbers on the forms. I found these numbering machines: ryobi_numbering. Can someone explain, whether these would work for what I am doing, how they work, or other recommendations?

Ive never seen a 3302 with numbering. I used those numbering machines on a Ryobi 500NP it is a single color 14x20 landscape press but hey are around with T heads for 2 color. Great registration too, it has pull guides and an adjustable headstop on the impression cyl.

  • 3302 is a great press. however, those numbering machines change number ever revolution of the press, so running ncr, every sheet of the ncr set would have a different number. dont think that there is a way to make the number machine skip 1, 2, or 3 sheets depending if your running 2, 3, or 4 part ncr. does that make sence?

One could buy ncr uncollated and number each color/section one at a time....cb#1-500, cfb#1-500, and cf#1-500 , then collate#1-500. It seems like a lot of effort though. we found it to be more convient to just run collated then pad and run on windmill to number. As Tim had stated, I have not seen a numbering machine which would skip sheets, just skip numbers and print on each sheet.

  • The 3302 was never made for use with an (NP unit) as Ryobi called it. The meaning was "Numbering/Perforating" unit. The 500 was optionally equipped however. An NP Unit was actually available on the 512 and all 520 Series presses with low pile deliveries. It is advised that you don't convert one due to the cost to do so but purchase one that was originally equipped. There are not a large number in the U.S. but they are out there.

Ryobi do a single colour 3200cd with a wheel on/off np unit but there are not many about note the np will not it on older machine so buy it with the machine complete
