impression grippers not opening, cam seems ok,theyre just loose, any ideas?

to add - 1 set of grippers is fine, opening and shutting, the other set is just loose, could it be a pin has gone or a spring?

  • Check the cam follower for play - they're a simple enough swap out.

cheers richard,no its not the cam,one gripper has tension, the other is just floppy

I don't mean the cam itself I mean the cam follower, located on the end of the gripper shaft. This is (if memory serves) a cage bearing housed in a fairly solid looking roller.

i got you,no,it seems solid enough,i wonder if the main bar has snapped,if so,its an engineer job!

Hi Jimmy, if its following the cam ok and the other set is working fine I am afraid it points to the main bar fail. Its easy to check, back away from the cam and see if you can move manualy with a set of grips my guess is nothing will happen.

    Good Luck mate.

cheers for that, yes you were right, the bar has snapped,is it easy to change?

Hi Jimmy, To a engineer yes , My advice would be stick with an engineer not the sort of job you would take on.
    All the best.

  • You missed the opportunity to get some sun on your back Paul ...check out where Jimmy is!

Hey, Jimmy I could pop and and clean your ink ducts for you!! :D
