A prominent sub contract Komori engineer tells me that the segment gears are worn on the perfector mechanism on my Spica press. His estimate for the cost of carrying out this work seems very high to me.Does anybody have any information on the disassembly of this mechanism.I am not a mechanically minded person but the mechanism looks very simple is this something I should attempt myself.Any useful information will incurr a generous financial reward.

Go for it. Sounds like a piece of piss, what do those 'prominent sub contracted engineers' know anyway?

OR

If you don't want to end up with a non-perfecting SPICA, pay the engineer to do it. Especially if the perfector is an automated variety.
Perfectors need specifically trained Komori engineers - I'm not calling your man's talents into question but he'd be brave to attempt it if he's not done it before.

It's your call.

I could add...

Sounds like a bit of an old dog your machine.Just sell it and get a new one.Scrap metal prices sky high at the moment

:P
