Got a DC242 with an Advanced Finisher unit fitted, which has had the Finsher NVMs 'initialized' in the system settings. Now getting fault code 012-335 - basically the finisher does not seem to be recognised at all.

What do I need to do to rectify - can the finisher be reset or reinstalled? Bit of a novice here, so be kind with any descriptions - thanks in advance for ANY assistance.

UPDATE *****
Have a second Advanced finishing unit which does not have the comms problem, but still has a 012-132 jam fault every time trying to run a job that previously ran okay. Does anyone know what the fault 'specifically' is?
I know it suggests a finisher fault, but what? No physical jam problem found... the job is a duplex A3 print run and ran okay before, but is this linked (duplexing), as the paper sheet 'stops' in the finisher unit (between 1d and 6) and is not printed at that point, so perhaps it is heading back into printer for duplex side? HELP PLEASE...!

***UPDATE ******
Taken advanced finisher off (replaced with standard tray output) and machine still refusing to do the duplexing job it previously ran okay! Tried a 2 sided copy and that too fails. The sheet is being output, seemingly in middle of duplex process, then just left hanging out of the output slot, not jammed as such, just sitting there. Like it refused to take it back in for duplex print. Why is it outputting through slot anyway?? Machine says open side door and clear the lower part and nothing improves. Every job seems to fail the duplexing motion. Single sided print outputs okay. What could be cause. Tried different stocks, settings and jobs, all seem to suddenly stop duplexing... not apparent cause ... What no help from anyone? :(

Moving on...
Now moved to be a consistent 077-129 fault code - so assumption to be something to do Duplexing seems right... just got to find cause and solution now...any takers? No apparent jams or blockages in paper path. correct and different papers tested... cleaned through... turned off and on several times... still same fault with every trial of a duplex print! Arrrrrggggghhhhhh! This is getting to me.
Someone must have better knowledge than a novice like me...?

PWS Edoc shows 012-335 is communication of finisher PWB to Booklet PWB lost. Check connectors and wiring between these PWB,s. 012-132 is entrance sensor, top tray gate working properly, finisher docked correctly. 077-129 is duplex-in sensor dirty or defective, inverter gate working properly, inverter motor not coming on. Usually the gate actuator is broken.

  • Thanks for ideas, all make more than a lot of sense. Finally tracked fault right back to the inverter gate - without finisher attached it became fault 077-129. Taking the door apart allowed me to find the little lug on end of inverter gate was broken, so solenoid not physically working gate. All replaced and working - thanks for all assistance offered.
