Coating buildup

We are having trouble with coating buildup at the leading edge of the cutout on the blanket on our CD102 F+L.The size or location of the cutout does not matter.The blanket is packed at .052.Stock varies from 60# C1S Label to .024 SBS board.Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi. Have you tried backing the applying roller off the blanket as much as you can? What kind of packing are you using? I always use hard plastic self adhesive packings under my coater blankets and make sure they don't curl over the leading edge of the cylinder.

Thanks,ColinG for your response.Yes we have backed the roller off until we start to lose coating coverage on the sheet ,then bring it back in until we get even coverage again.We are using paper packing ,as we always have.We may give the plastic a try if we cannot find something else.Tx again. mrmark

How about slowing down the application roller speed/percentage?

Is your viscosity correct?

Too thick and you'll get 'beading' on edges of cutouts, too thin and you'll need to lay down a lot more than you'd like to get correct coverage as well as slowing the set time.

Sound like a clutch You can reverence the characteristic curves for the coater to . This will let you set the roller speed to differerent profiles.Low Medium and High depending in viscosity of your coating .
