Fuser problem?

OK...ive been dealing with this one for quite some time. It smudges towards the trail edge on the far inboard area of paper. I THOUGHT it was on the belt. even had a 5 page pattern! change the belt it came right back.... But its the Fuser. The sheets seem to hang up as they enter it. Basically curl upwards towards the back. the spot where it wrinkles up, touches the bottom of the metering roller area, smudging print!

the reason it took so long, is that I'd constantly be changing paper size and type and it would stop randomly(or so it seems) obviously, letter size, it wouldnt do this, and cover stock as well. its only doing it to 17" offset.


what could cause this? static? vacuum transports timing off...Fuser roller turning too slowly? sensor timing off somehow?

As I was watching, I noticed the fuser lamp flicker looked a bit like someone welding in the distance, so Inspected the wires. see attached photo..HOLY SMOKES, how is this thing working at all?
could that cause a problem like Im having? crazy.

OK ive cleaned all sensors, thinking its maybe related to a sensor delay.

it LOOOOKS like the 2nd prefuser vacuum transport isnt letting go, and subsequently driving the sheet under force into the fuser. causing it to buckle UP, at the back of the sheet and hit the bottom of the metering tray.

some curiosity here. is there an NVM for that timing? I'm looking at a few, but not sure which it is. or what the values mean to change them.

there is a NVM to speed up or slow down the prefuser belts under psp but I do not recall the number. sheet will have a slight buckle as it enters nip of fuser and pressure roller.have to find happy medium.watch out when wiping the under side of the metering tray **** is hot .

If you search for 'Fuser drive velocity' in the NVMs (have to be under the service login) you can speed up the fuser roll to match the vacuum transports. Just be careful, if you get it too fast, you'll have buckling post-fuser which can hit things and also cause marks, but not as bad as toner smudges...

A little adjustment can go a long way, so test it out in like 0.5 increments. (lower is slower, no weird inverted stuff with this NVM, and you can go negative- it does not make the roller go backwards. )

about the 2% mark the "buckling" started to become less intense, and the sheet didnt bump metering tank above.
