xerox 700 external rip change

Hi All,
I have just purchased a 2nd hand xerox 700 to replace my increasingly worn out back up/2nd machine however it came with a creo cx700 rip which i am having problems getting to grips with and don't think it works as well as the ex700 for my purposes.
Does anyone know if i can just swap the rips over or is it likely to cause problems / issues such as needing hardware reprogramming on the machine / or similair?
