Is There Any Other Way Around Not Restarting The Program... I Delete The Job And Then It Says Its Still Processing The Job So I Just Restart The Program And It Works Again... But Is There Any Other Way Around It So I Dont Have To Restart Freeflow All The Time...

Not that I know of but be aware that I have had the jobs still be there on the restart and it only caused more problems.

You are generally screwed. You either wait for the process to end or spend, what could be, the same time waiting for a restart.

I'd be interested in other experiences and comments too

  • We sometimes have problems with the jobs not proccessing enough images, it also requires a restart.

To overcome the problems on long term we reload the freeflow completely, we have changed to larger SSD harddrives to increase performance.

FreeFlow s*cks. Okay, to be fair it's not that bad, but it is buggy. Each software upgrade does improve in some areas, but even the latest update has too many problems. Resetting the job IDs back to 0 seems to clear everything and improves performance. But yeah, when you release more than one file at a time, or when you proof/print now over a large file you are risking a crash. Sometimes it works no problem, but it seems to get overloaded over time. It might be best to do a complete shutdown every day at the start of your shift, who knows.

What problems did you run in to in the SSD install and how did you overcome them. I have been trying to get larger than 70MB drives for years. Xerox always said no and I have no experience with this OS.

  • I hate when it freezes saying it's printing....and it's actually just the Igen sitting there making noise. :) I did notice when restarting after that issue, the job will need resent.

Also, I had it randomly decide to drop color out of the prints the other day. all variable black print stayed. Restart press...nothing. reboot freeflow "better".... resend job and restart freeflow, that got it.

Stiv, actually im not so familiar with the process, i just think the OS was reinstalled on the new discs after they where switched out.

The upgrade was performed by a xerox system administrator, on behalf of our request..

We reload/reinstall the OS aprox each 3 month due to different issues, this keeps us from having issues for a longer while..
