Has anyone tried the new thermal plates from vim technoliges yet , i just recieved a new box today and was wondering if i have to change laser strength for imaging the plates or if it stays the same, i currently am using the kodak profire media???

I'd recommend to at least calibrate your lasers and test your curve to see what results.

  • Who did you buy the plate material from? They should be able to answer your questions. I have been told that you might have to adjust the lasers with there new material.

    VIM plates

    Have you tried yet?
We have a QMDI that I would be interested trying the VIM plates. Could you let me know how they work out?
    Thanks

VIM platemaker didn't last, the plates couldn't hold image, went to the PlateWrite 2000.
Always do exposure test when in dought. Then check the print quality at the press

Have not tried the VIM plates yet plan on testing next week , will post some rusults on here after test,

Where about did u buy the plates from? What were the prices?

I have started with the Vim plates. To this point I have not changed anything. Print quality is fine.

I will start testing them on friday , will post any issues if any next week, what press are you running on

I'm running a 5034. No issues yet, but they have been on less than a week. We always bought our plates from Kodak, and there is a significant price difference.

  • From kodak we paid $1,060 for the Presstek plates per case. The Vim plates through Advanced Print Technologies are $735 a case. Same number of plates per roll.
