Techkon SpectroPlate Help

We have a spectroplate and looking to calibrate our plate making, specifically dot-gain. Unfortunately our version of spectroPlate doesnt allow to read the Kodak Sonora XP plates (Processless Plates), we need to upgrade the hardware, that would cost us 2600 Eur.

In the list of the device we can select a number of other plate brands.. for example the Agfa Azura TS (also processless plates) not sure why this one would be compatible..

I have a heidelberg Topsetter 74.

Any plate experts here that could advise on other processless plates that work with our CTP and Plate reader..

Calibration: Make sure to calibrate your SpectroPlate device properly before using it. Regular calibration helps maintain accuracy in color measurement. Proper Setup: Follow the manufacturer's instructions for setting up your SpectroPlate device. Ensure that it is positioned correctly on the color patch for accurate readings.

As a color analyst I usually rope in a press's dot gain from the color profile & the press curve. Most plate RIPs (like kodak prinergy or Esko) have a way for you to apply a cut back on the plate side of things, as well as tighten your gains even further with color profile and curve software (like Kodak ColorFlow, Curves 4, or many others).

You'll take the data from a printed sheet, measure your gains, and adjust. You may print another set of patched, read again, and see if you require further adjustments. Once they are locked in for that paper/substrate they should remain relatively in-tack, unless you change inks, blankets or other hardware that could cause gains to change.
