    Borrowdale Camera
    Price with 48" x 48" back was $13,750 in 1963

If this is not the right (closest to apply) category, then please move it.

I used to run process cameras back in the 1970's, just smaller ones. Does anyone know what the box is behind the man? Is it for film box storage?

It looks like there are 2 backs in front of the man. If so, what was the 2nd back used for? The first back has a crank on the side that was probably used to lower and raise glass halftone screens stored in the box on top of the photo. We also used contact film halftone screens held on via vacuum. But the glass screens were preferred for fast production.

I can’t see your picture but the 2-backs you mention - 1 - is a frame for ground glass to focus or calculate where the image will appear on the 2nd back - the vacuum board. - showing my age . . .
