Magenta Spitting-my turn now.

Off and on for the past few weeks, I've been getting light Magenta spots towards the back of the machine...only on heavy stock, on paper over 12" (thats where the spots start)

Today it just got really really bad...

The magenta developer station was missing the little baffle that sits between the donor rollers.... that really wasnt it though. Replaced it...It got better.Spots still there, but less apparent...

But NOW:

HUGE TONER GLOBS! Like someone got a small cup full of toner and threw it at the belt randomly, as it was spinning...Toner/developer is building up somewhere...but where?!?!? It is not every sheet, and there really isn't a pattern...they are about 1"x1" random spots of toner. Haley's comet shaped. LOL no camera, can't take a picture...

anyone ever see this?

Everything new EXCEPT developer and station itself.

Tech here, but seems perplexed. I will update I guess if we solve it.

Note: Nexpress ALWAYS hated magenta too...is it a common theme among printers?

Pull the Mag unit out and look into the iGen at the connection where the used toner is dumped. It is a 1"x1" opening on a small tube at the back. It connects up to the bottom of the Mag unit. Is it clogged? It should be open. Check to see if the tube is plastic or metal. Also check to see if mag toner is all over the bottom of where the Developer unit was and try to vacuum it out.
Make sure the inside of the NOHAD cover on the PR Belt unit is clean. I have had toner collect on the inside of the cover and drop onto the sheet. Also clean the top of the plastic part under the cleaning blade.
I am going to assume that you have connected the vacuum to the Mag unit, upper and lower, while tapping on the top and bottom.

Is the job you are running have a lot of magenta and what is your magenta purge set at?

Hmm i would check the toner concentration, spitting can be a problem if its too high. NVM -> Search -> Tcta(thats target, what the machines tries to get it into) and tcre(read, actual value) if its between 4,5-5 its o.k, if its higher you should run xerographic setup to get it lowered, if the target keeps rising you should get the tech to change etac sensors.

thanks for the replies, we pretty much did all those things.

turned out to be:

1: missing baffle between donor rollers, allowing toner out willy nilly
2: Waste system clogged down by filter
3: Bad toner concentration sensor in dev. station.

sounds like a recipe for overtoning to me

Okay, this is back now....Im going to place a service call...

WAY over toned magenta, then run 951, it goes away UNTIL auto adjust.
