Laser Printer for Heavy Lined Envelopes

We print wedding invitations, envelopes etc. We would like to get a laser printer BUT alot of our envelopes are heavy card stock and lined so therefore "unbendable".
Currently we print on inkjet printers with CIS systems.
Some have a CD print function and some like the Epson R280 and Artisan bring paper from the back to the front with just a slight bend.
Almost all laser printers seem to bring the paper from bottom to top while passing at 90 degrees through several rollers - doesn't work for card stock.
Does anyone know of a laser printer that might work for us? Thank you.

A lot of (most) copiers have a stack bypass or multipurpose tray used to feed envelopes and heavy stock fairly straight thru.
However most are only designed for stock up to ~300 gsm.
I don't like the oki printer particularly for its consumable price, but take a look at
http://store.xante.com/products/ildepgs/Default.aspx
(xante has been adapting it for heavy stock for a long time, though with really high consumable costs; there are now a couple of variations of using this engine for an envelope printer.) The xante modified oki engine is spec-ed for up to 26 pt or 502 gsm, though the envelope feeder seems speced for only up to 300 ?)

  • Thank you for the info. We'd rather find a lazer printer if we can. The Xante are single purpose envelops only. If we can find a lazer we'll be able to use it for invitations and envelopes etc.

Color copiers are simply "big" laser printers now with a scanner attached. I think the xante can be adapted for both, though I don't have any hands on experience with it. I'm not sure there is another "small" laser printer that will handle fusing the thickness you're after.
