Ink Ductor Mechanics

We are having trouble with the ink ductor on our GTO. In the latching mechanism the ductor does not engage fully and has weak pressure up against the fountain roller. We have put a slightly larger roller in the ductors spot...same thing. Now if we put an elastic on the ductor(Holder) ...it gives it enough pressure. Pictures in the parts book are very hard to make out..hard to explain

Please explain what you mean when you say you put an elastic on the ductor

I think the problem is not enough spring pressure to give a good contact between fountain roller and ink ductor. So they are using rubber bands or similar thing to increase the contact.

I know it sounds crazy...but we need it to give the ductor roller enough pressure to come in contact with the distributor. The ductor control lever..which is attached to the adjusting disc shaft feels loose or not going into the auto position when not going under impression

On the form roller hangers on GTO and the ductor roller hanger the roller bearings sit in a 3 pin hanger. 1 of the pins is a stationary pin, 2nd pin is the pin used to remove the roller by sliding laterally and the 3rd pin is an eccentric. there is a 3mm set screw that can be loosened to turn this eccentric with a 4mm allen. These 3 pins will wear over time and cause the roller bearing to fit loosely in the hanger. Remove the ductor roller and use a new roller bearing by itself to see if its loose in the hanger. If so tighten it by turning the eccentric. You should be able to turn the outer race of the roller bearing with heavy drag when the hanger is in the locked position. If this does not solve your problem you may have a pin wearing out on your ductor shaft which can be much more difficult to repair.
