Company considering replacing Igen with something cheaper.

casual questions to those that operate these.

will they do all of these things reliably:

-14pt COVER.

-diecut labels

-duplex

how is the cost and up-time?

self repair? I REALLY hate sitting and waiting for techs that I have to explain how to fix.

if anyone has a direct comparison to Xerox Igen, that is the info I am after. The big thing Im losing is paper size of 14" width. which is HUGE loss to me. But still curious.

Do not buy a Canon Imagepress. The prints are Grainy, You will MAYBE get 5k sheets through it before a service call. You will have to calibrate it before and during long runs to keep the color. If you are running 14pt it will blow the fusing rollers in 3-5k sheets and you will start getting streaks. It is only capable of producing 600 dpi images even though the brochure says 1200 x 1200 dpi. You have to pay an extra $1200 to be able to replace parts yourself.

Canon 6010

We've had a 6010 for several years. The machine seems to like the heavier stock, and can run and duplex 14 pt all day long. The only issue we have with fuser rollers is switching from 12 x 18 to 13 x 19 paper. If the rollers are getting any age on them, they will leave marks I/2 inch in on the 13x19. That is only because we run a lot of heavy 12x18 and the edges will eventually mark the rollers. It does not print gray very well, but all other colors look great.
