PR Belts Developing Nicks

Sometimes even right after installation. It must be touching something, but I don't know what. I always change the cleaning blade as well. Ugh, this machine has been giving me a head ache lately.

Do they show up in print? Usually need to check the transfer blade.

Doesn't seem to be anything wrong in the transfer blade area. It's got some toner on it, but not even a lot. I cleaned that off.

Take the cleaner flicker bars out and give them a good clean or replace them along with the brush. Build up on these can cause a lot of problems. What shape are these "nicks" btw

May be a long shot.... and Not sure your marks, or if this will help, but, Check the bank of magnets below the cleaner brush.

I spent a week dealing with this back in my early igen days(no training. These magnets have tape covering them, it can get brittle, curl up, and randomly touches the belt. ALSO had a screw come out of somewhere, stick to the magnets, and build up developer on it, eventually leading to print issues.

both of those were a huge pain in my a........... still unsure where the screw came from lol

THis is an easy thing to do, I have it as part of my regular maintenance now... If the belt is open, magnets get wiped off.

Nicks are just nicks. They're very small sections of the PR belt that looks like it's been stripped away. Just leads to missing spots on the image. They aren't really shaped like anything. Just tiny blobs.

have a look at the cover for the mob sensors ...sometimes you think it is put back on properly after a cleaning but the tab/hooks are over the slot instead of through it

Id have no idea, if it isnt strips removed by rotation of the belt and gouging.

Cleaned off some built up developer on the magnet below the pre-transfer wire. No new nicks are forming, and the other ones are small enough to get away with. Will see how it turns out.

Honestly, I'd try replacing all wire mods for the developing houses, and the grids on all four colors.

Nicks or scratches on the PR belt are usually caused by a worn TAB blade. It doesn't have to have any real noticeable splinters it can be a slight raising of the fingers. Also make sure to clean all the rolls and components the belt sits on top of and clean the very bottom of the PR belt assembly.

You were right in cleaning the magnet below the cleaner brushes too.
