    Hi,

We are printing on PVC sheets using Oil based heat resistant inks on a offset machine. Post printing we also do a aqua varnish on the sheet. The sheet is then stretched or expanded post varnish. However during the printing process we are facing a problem of set off and also the inks are not scratch resistant post varnish.

We have tried using UV inks and UV Varnish but they tend to break when the sheet is stretched. Hence it does not work for us.

    Please help on this.

    Thanks

    Mahesh

Have you dyne tested the material your printing on, and used it within a reasonable amount of time after getting a passing dyne test result? Corona treatments of synthetic substrates do not have an indefinite shelf life. You must print within a reasonable amount of time. Are both the inks and post printing uv coating being energy cured? The proper inks for your application as recommended by an ink professional, should run without the problems you've encountered. If you know your using the recommended products and techniques, and you've dyne tested stock and its ok then I would suggest you have your ink rep come down to see whats wrong.

Similar issue but by chance partly discovered the answer in that we used a liquid sealer used for playing card varnish.
This sealed the litho ink onto the polyprop sheets very quickly. However, we only has a very small amount (not enough to get lab analysed) and we do not know the name (un labelled bottle). So the answer is a playing card varnish that we are still looking for.....any ideas what it could be???
