I'm wondering if there's an easy way to tweak my colours in the RIP. Unfortunately, our small shop has neither a densitometer or spectrometer. (Well, we do have an DTP 32 X-Rite for our digital copier, would this work???)

Now my chief concern is the magenta, it's weak. I'm running Saphira ink.

Could any of you be so kind as to compare your RIP settings with my current calibration? Below is a sampling of what I've got entered now.

MAGENTA:
Solid Density: 1.415

Dot Percentage:
Nominal %: 40% Measured: 18.3
..................60%...................19.68
..................80%...................12.19

Density:
Nominal %: 40%.................0.355
..................60%.................0.631
..................80%.................0.945

Is that dot percentage being read from the printed sheet or from the settings you have in the RIP?

  • That is the setting that is in the RIP (telling it what came from the printed sheet), although I'm not sure if it ever came from a printed sheet (like it should have), and if it did it was a long time ago.
