Hello everyone!

At our press, we keep the piles of papers in terms of the following categories:

1. Good pile (which is the production that is forwarded)
2. Semi-Waste (The pile, which may contain waste)
3. Waste

What is the best method of sorting, and keeping the piles according to operator-shifts, and where to place the pile card? How do we mark the piles using different ways? Share your ideas!

We are a forms house, but I gotta ask, why are you doing this?

  • i just keep a few sheets, 100 or so for running up colour, registering and when i cant see what im printing on it anymore i use a few more.
Why are you keeping piles of paper?? just bin the lot into the recycling

i keep about a 1000 sheets of each paper and separate it by weight and size 20# 8 1/2 by 11 then 20# 11 by 17 and so on and once you can't see what your printing RECYCLE!!! can't stress recycling enough!

We only keep clean waste sheets in press, to set up our next runs on. the semi waste gets forwarded to bindery for their waste. The less clutter the better

i have 3 broad point markers that i use the mark the gripper of the pile. A blue line would be drawn on the gripper to denote office copies or samples.... a red line would be drawn on the gripper to denote either MR sheets, waste, or some other issue with the job that needs attention. And the third color would be black to denote whatever else you want to mark. This marking system in effect makes things idiot proof. If you wind up with waste sheets being sent to your customer after doing this you need to fire someone!!!
