Does anyone have any experience replacing the seals on the oscillating rollers on a L40. A couple of ours are leaking a lot of oil.

Hi

I know a guy in the US (East coast) who can do thye job for you if you want , he will also travel to the west coast if needed.
he is good & cheap.
talk to me.

  • If it is the inker rollers its not for the faint of heart its best to replace all of them on a unit at once you have to remove the bell housing and the wobble plate and the inker gears on the driveside its a job for 2 techs one does the driveside the other the opside then remove the housings and replace the seals theres 2 per housing. Dampner seals are much easier. You will eventually start getting the oil on the sheet if its not doing that now.

Yup, Its a pretty full on job to do seals but if it's just a few then no biggie.
My old L425BP SS Sprint leaked like a bar hopper and that was on all units on both sides, to make it worse the oil would run down onto the blanket and impression cylinder gears (they are on the inside frames on an old sprint) and flick the oil everywhere!

Unless it is just the dampener chrome roller it is best to do the whole unit at once

Yup Kmoimt is bang on, it's a day to strip the sides out to get to the seals so you wanna do the lot while you're there,
Or you might try the old bannana skins in the oil sump!.....works on old cars they tell me...ha ha!...just kiddin aye,
ya might do that to a Heidelberg but not a Komori !
