Newbie needs School

Hi All,

I am a newbie in this forum and also in offset.

I come from the printer world. (Canon CLC 5151 and similar)
Also am service guy for fixing Canon machines.
I work for a PrintShop in Europe.

Our boss wants to expand into the bigger market so in front of us we have 2 doors:
1. Heidelberg QM DI 4
2. Canon imagePress C7000 VP

As much as I would like door nr.2, I presume boss will go for the door nr.1 because of the cheaper price (I am talking used machines here).

Before we purchase a machine someone from our company (which is always me) has to be trained. So this leads us to the question:
Where in Europe can I train for User Training and somehow Service Training ?
I mean location, duration of training, pricing ?

Second question is: Since I am not familiar with these machines, but I am sure most of you are...
How much is normal to pay a specialist to come with me and evaluate a machine ?
What about installation at our shop and a short 2-3 day training ?

Third question: We are looking for the Plus version, preferably within 10 imp.
What are the average prices ?

Years of experience with as pressman and demonstrator.

When we were selling the QMDI the installation process with training took two weeks. The press took 3 days to install and the next 7 days were dedicated to training. If the press operator had experience running a 4-color machine, the 7 days was sufficient and we rarely had to go back for further instruction.

As to the price of the PLUS machines they range anywhere from 20K to 80K depending on impression count. We just had a QMDI Classic with 480,000 impressions we sold for 25K. There are some very good deals out there.

I would not consider purchasing any QMDI that you have not seen run from pre-press to press. In other words have some one show the job being RIP'ed then brought up on the press and imaged.

If we compare the same DI type (mechanically speaking)
First machine is NEW
Second machine has, lets say 10-20 mill impressions.

Do they have difference in quality ?
If yes, to what consumable is related to ?

Hi there, We have a DI 46 Pro for sale.
Machine has done only 7.5 million prints.

Machine is in New Zealand, so buying with Euro's to a NZ dollar is a good deal for you.
Machine is from 1994.

I am a newbie but how come your PRO version dates from 1994 ?
I thought PRO was released round 2000.

In 1994 it was one of the very first Classic machines. The Plus came out in early 1999 and the Pro was not available until late 2001.

As far as your question is concerned about the new machine versus the one with 10 - 20 million imp on it goes... It all depends on how well the used machine was kept up. I have seen used machines that print just as well as new ones when kept in good condition. That being said, if the price of the machines are not too far apart, I would go for the new one.
