Manually or RIP convert RGB to CMYK?

Adobe products are good but don't let corel do ANY conversion for the colors come out faded. Depends on rip too, if you are sure about your setup than go ahead but if you don't know what you are doing rips can product so crazy results.

  • Let the rip do it if you convert prior to the rip it will still convert again.

Convert an image from cmyk to rgb is altering the image and do this to many times will create posterization.
If you image is CMYK it needs a profile to tell it how to get there. Each device requires a profile.

Eg convert to swop then print to epson 4880.
    - this is 2 conversions as the epson will then convert the swop into its on colour space

Previous versions of corel used to deliver horrible results for me, but x3 and x4 both have delivered results quite close to photoshop for me now. If anything, I get slightly harsher, bolder cmyk colors letting corel do the rgb to cmyk and slightly smoother more subtle using cs3.

If I send rgb to the rip I get richer colors sometimes, but I like sending cmyk because then I can match my prints between machines.
