    Hi.

    I have a problem with Roland 304 no. 27245B
The problem concerns the motor M63 mounting plate with CPL, the motor does not work. Error 64 (overcurrent) occurred on the 7-segment display and error:
CPL: DW 2, motor 4; Überlast
CPL: DW 2, Spannschienenpositionierung; Storung, Time out

Other motors operating in CPL (circuit register A and B, side register)
The problem is 99% CPL, the A571 CPL driver has been replaced.

If you can unblock the engine in some way, I think it could get stuck.
Can I remove the CPL unit without special tools?

    HI sir:

By comparison with M60+m61+M62 VS m63 Measure the Voltage ,since that other motors is working.

Measure if there are not :a) you must try some connector lose, or cable faulty, or dirty, or corroded
if there are voltage in terminal motor: b) motr 63 can be faulty, interchange, by other is working and try the test again , measure again with your schematic diagram.

Any doubt consult with the operator manual, about if you can move the CPL unit without special Tools, whoever this special devices, they do it with special tools, designed for the factory.

    Blessing

5 & 6 mm imbus. It is only necessary to dismantle the CPL. Be careful, it's heavy.
But I don't think dismantling will solve the problem. I recommend using the utility software you have in your machine.
It is good to be done by a person who has tuned the CPL before. Some settings are saved in memory and change is not recommended.
Motor 63 is the clamp closing. If is a problem there, it is likely that someone has adjusted the clamp without knowing how to do it.

    X = 110mm, potentiometer voltage~ 3.66
    X = 125mm, potentiometer voltage ~ 0.56V

    Thanks for the answers.
This is my CPL. Can you mark and describe step by step how to disassemble it correctly?
I'm a beginner Man Roland service technician, I don't have software unless it's installed on the machine and you can tell me what and how.

Nobody regulated it before, after a few days break at work stopped.
Can any measurements be made, e.g. potentiometer and motor voltage, without dismantling the entire device?

    Thank you,

Ja. Use the CPL program from my console. You must have the software together with the machine software. If not, I can help.

You can measure Voltages without dissasembly the stepmotor, only disconnect .cables or wires and measure with your DMM, according with the ID plates motor and ready

    Look for
    1) lack of voltage
    b) low voltage
    c) high Voltage
    d) dirty connector
    e) corroded wires
    ) broken wires
    g) loose wires
    h) oil wires!!
    i)or motor faulty.
    Good luck, let me know

it does matter, any devices in any machines, the engineers built this machine
with the possibility to test In-situ.

As professional Electrical/ Electronic Engineer P.E by over 48 years experienced, now retired, with 68 years, i can indicate you, that any devices inside or around any machines you can measure by you wires or connector, Use please the " Common sense" the best Invaluable tools of the world!!

    Good luck

Nothing can be checked without dismantling the console. Only the CPL service program can be used.
Here is some help for dismantling....But I don't think it's necessary. Try checking with the program first.

    Thank you for the hints.

Unfortunately, I don't have CPL software, I don't know how to use them either ;-(

Tomorrow I will try to disassemble the CPL, I understand that 4 screws (1, 3, 4, 6) and 2 fixing screws (2, 5) are enough?

Unfortunately I do not have the exact central CPL diagram, I will check the engine and connections.

Can I get the CPL program?

Unfortunately, I only speak Polish, I can only write in English.

    Greetings, colleagues.

Each machine has CPL software included with the floppy disks. Give me an email.
If the machine is well installed, the program must be loaded onto the hard disks. Check!
You need a programmer who knows DOS 6.22
Find someone who speaks a foreign language and call. There is a lot to learn before repair.

You would be able to briefly describe how to start working on this program ?. Maybe you would have what documentation to learn?

You need a someone who knows DOS.
    So:.....a little help
    You need a PS2 keyboard.
Plug it into the machine's computer. (Right under the foil keyboard. Low below the ground.)
Restart console computer. Press F8 repeatedly until DOS starts. Then confirm with yes until Config completes (config.sys). Then (Autoexec.bat) press NO until com's C:\..
Put the floppy disk in the floppy.
    Start program.
So you can work without a special RS232 to RS485 adapter.
    ...then
It is difficult to explain the system check and setup in 1-2 pages.
    check your email
    Good luck

    PP
Bolts 2 and 5 remain in place ..... if present on your machine. They may be on the inside. It is depends on the machine series.
    PPP
Do not remove any mechanical parts inside the CPL. Оtherwise you will need a long school and a dedicated recovery service tools.

    Steps:
Loosen all round head bolts half turn (part 8, page 16-9, from 19_m3d16.pdf)
    Start program.
    Choose a language.
Choose the configuration of your machine.
    Choose PU !!!!!!!
Perform a closing and opening procedure.
Check that the chain is moving. Visible from the B side if the cover is removed.
    Open the flap.
    Put a plaque.
    Close the flap.
Tighten the all round head bolts 10Nm.
    Open the flap.
    Put a new plaque.
    Close the flap.
    Check motor current.(program)
    Has to be 950-1100mA
Adjust with bolts (all equally tight)
Open and close the flap again.
    Write down what happened.
Dismounting the CPL is only necessary to replace a motor or potentiometer or other mechanical failure.
