hope someone can help ! We have a knocking sound coming from the gear side at the infeed .You can hear it when we pre-ink ,wash rollers ,But is the loudest is when press has been running and you stop the press .Just after the last sheet goes in its a knock it will knock two to four times . It is loud enough to worry me. We had komori service guy in and he could not find anything? I don't want to just hope it goes away because I know it is a matter of time before something brakes

Had a blown bearing on the timing shaft on the feeder, it only made noise when speeding up or slowing down. Only found it because it got really bad.

Good luck

Did yours make the knock even when the feeder was not ingaged

Hi FSA thank-you for the info was it very expensive to fix ? .And how long was it before broke

    glenn lamarche

It made the noise for less than a month, and at that time it was in 24/6 operation, and it took me three day to do the repair, every bearing that I came across in the repair was changed, yup what a pain. Not everything is easy to change like the blankets or rollers. Because Komori tecks are few and far between, I did most if not all the repairs on the fleet of presses for that company, that why it took days. I also change the timing chain to a double roller with sliders at the same time, that press ran at full speed for job after job, and it needed it.

Good Luck & let me know how it works out

Oh boy that sounds like fun ! thanks again for the info I will let you know how we make out .

I expect you have had your press fixed by now. I have had a similar noise many times on customers presses. The latch for the swing arm grippers can bang if the solenoid controlling it is damaged. The bolt holding the rod to the top of the solenoid can sheer off or work it self out and this means the latch won't engage properly, making it bang.

No we have not fixed it yet because the komori tech cold not find anything . Were is this soleniod so I can look for it ,Note:the that the noise is not alway there it comes and goes . I do think
that sounds more like what is happening Our press is an 2006 LIthrone S 29 6 colour with anolox coater

The solenoid is fixed to the drive side frame, below the swing arm. Lift the table and you should be able to see a gray or black box covering the solenoid. There is a rod with a spring round it going up to the lever assembly. You will see a fork at the top of the solenoid with a 6mm bolt holding the bottom of the rod. This bolt can sheer or the nuts can come off it and it can come partly out. Note that there are 2 spacers on the bolt to keep the rod centralised with the solenoid.

Just to see if I understand your problem based off of your earlier comments: You are running but dont hear the knocking noise, but then after the last sheet is fed in and your feeder trips, then you hear a knocking noise briefly?

  • yes that is true the Koromri tech is here right now and found a part called ( chip ) it is a small part about 1/2 x 1 inches and 1/8 thick it goes on the lever for the register ( gripper stopper ) it is damaged and was slipping off when the swing are comes up . Tech said that it would not have caused any other damage but would let the grippers take sheets all the time or accept out of register sheets

i am a komori tech and willing to help in USA will travel to Ontario if needed. 603-475-1622
