iGen3 Stacker Folding Corners

Stacker started folding the corners of product before stacking, causing all stacks to be jagged. Even jams sometimes when paper doesn't get make it out of the transports. 'Cause thus far unknown. Paper sent to purge tray is fold free.

Looks like issue was the vacuum motor for the transport exit, but I just replace that 6 months ago. Why are these going out so fast?

try scrubbing your orange registration rollers. you may be having what I went through? paper not straightening out fast enough, hitting edges.

also, open area 4. right behind the latch, theres a little area where two metal parts meet. make sure thats not sticking up at all and is clean.

Never mind, doing it again. Seems that the corners get caught right at the exit from the stacker transport rollers. For some reason the paper is moving too far out to the side before exiting. Vacuum motor doesn't seem to help.

yes try cleaning those orange rollers REALLY well had SAME thing....appears to have helped me.

So it does seem that the paper isn't straightening fast enough, but I don't know why. The orange rollers are clean, but the machine doesn't seem to be straightening the paper out. The corner is hitting the edge of the roller transport track just before exit, then it moves way back over to hit the vacuum belts.

Ok, checked timing disks for the skew motors, they seem to hold on just fine and aren't damaged. Cleaned the sensor next to orange rollers. iGen stacker still seems to think paper needs to run into the transport walls. No idea why. I guess it's possible that the home position on the skew roller motor is set incorrectly, but I don't know what that position should be.

Ok, I think I found it. Nip roller spring had come off of it's mounting hook. Stacker still not stacking paper particularly straight, but at least now it's not catching the corner on the transport wall.

Nope, started doing it again. It's absolutely killing the corners. Why does it start out fine, then progressively get worse as the run goes on?

I did this too.

you know, I actually have this problem on occasion as well. but Ive never come up with an absolute fix..just keep trying things until it works. lol

theories are that it has to do with stock...and environment. dont have as much trouble in spring summer...

Paper is perfectly flat after fusing and even flat when it hits the purge tray. Corners are mangled when they go to the stacker cart.

Does it happen on all stocks?
Lighter paper is more easily affected by static/etc. Reducing static will prevent dog-earring.
If on heavy stocks too, then static isn't the problem. Probably the stacker belts or something broken.

Usually taking the time to watch and inspect the machine closely helps me. If you are swamped and don't have extra time then it's tough.
Inspect the rollers and belts, make sure they are clean and seated properly.

Use PSP --> Component Control and manually turn the belts / rollers to clean them (that's what I do -- makes it easier).
