Looking at iGen 4 or 5 (150). Both used, 5 less so. What is the learning curve from an older digital press ? Brand withheld.
I know some love it, some hate it, i respect that.
Which machine is more reliable ? If that question can be answered...
Is there a reason to go with the 5 from a quality perspective ?
Very interested in the 26 inch sheet ability. Is this capability reliable from a register perspective ?

Both are very reliable. Are you doing your own service? If so get trained. Makes all the difference in the world. If you habe any questions, call me at 714-292-6912 anytime.
 
    • The DPI on the 150 is higher, meaning better quality and sharper black text. Reliability seems the same.

    I got both 150 and 4 in our shop, i would defenitly go for 150.
     
    front-to-back registration on xxl sheets is spot on, on all my presses. The iGen family has a great registration compared to other digital presses.
     
    Ok. Thank you all for your comments. Im hoping the 150 registers as well as an Indigo. We shall see...
     
    ive had almost 8 glorious(mostly) yrs with my IGEN 4. ZERO training. Previously trained on nexpress. And a myriad of Black and white printers. Kodak, Heidelberg, Xerox... giving me enough understanding to walk into it, and not be TOOOOO far behind the curve. Im a natural tinkerer though....

    I find it to be, for what we do of course, the most predictable, dependable machine out there. so much so, that a few years ago, I was asked to find an adequate replacement, I could not, without MANY concessions.

    Rarely have registration problems with it... well, my tolerance is probably less stringent than most as well.....

    • Well its as spot on as Indigo, the iGen150 dont use grippers ;-)

    Btw Peels, my iGen days will be over soon, after about 10 years since my first iGen3(6 different iGens through the time) we are now replacing Xerox with 2 x HP indigo 12000
