I cleaned up my main motor on the GTOV,and thus removed the motor operated adjuster, problem is I cannot recall its original position so the press is starting on a very high speed, anyone to guide me on how to reposition it is most appreciated.

    with much thanks.

    Eric.

There should be a set of lock nuts on either end of the threaded rod. Is this the style you are refering to?

I HAVE a motor with a worm gear which drives a rod with two worm gears the later attached to a gear . This gear turns a set is toothed plates which hold the carbon brushes ,may be what you are referring to.

the motor and the rod are at ninety degrees, i.e the motor is horizontal while the rod is vertically mounted.

    Hi,
It seems to me like your motor brush carrier gear has derailed and gone out of timing. To set this back, you will need the service of someone technically used to that motor since the motor can get overheated and burnt if setting is not properly handled.

I think the GTO has an AC commutator motor, there are 3 position switches attached to 3 small cams installed near the adjuster motor, the problem is with one of these switches, may be a loose connection or something, also have these switches tested whether if there is fault with the switch itself, lastly the positions of these cams need to be adjusted.

@waqaz_zahid nice approach,,the switches I had not thought of will check positions, I had focused on the cams alone. Thanx buddy.

@waqaz_zahid, I got it right, one of the switches responsible for maximum point was faulty and out of setting, I replaced with a new one and did a new setting, working well now, thanks a lot.
