We have a Heidelberg XL 105 2006 model. When running a 915x640mm sheet size the sheet tears 60mm from the back edge on the operator side when the machine is running at 16000 + sheets per hour. We do not have any problems if the sheet size is 930 +. This is a reoccurring problem on any stock from 85gsm up to 135gsm matt or gloss. Any feedback will be appreciated.

This is not an uncommon problem with XL105 especially at high speeds and thin stock. Your machine should have come with sheet smoothers that attach to the movable guard over the feed board. Placing these sheet smoothers just outside the stop fingers will solve that problem. Your machine should have an operators manual in the CP2000 consol. Open the manual in the feeder section and look for Hold Down Rod. This is what Heidelberg calls the sheet smoother. In the manual it will show proper placement of these smoothers.

Thank you for the reply. We currently have a 12 finger guide bar at the
in feed which has been changed to a 15 finger guide bar on the later
models. Any idea when this change took place?

What do you mean by Guide Bar? Do you have a picture you can post?

Not sure of the exact time they changed from the rod style to the wider guide. If I remember correctly, it was pretty early on because the rod style like you show in your picture had issues with marking. I would guess this change was made first or second year of production.
