Has anyone had any problems with a Toshiba eStudio 5520c laser printer?

I am looking into buying a eStudio 5520c laser printer and wanted to know if anyone has any advice against purchasing this machine?

I do in-house publishing for a local company and print documents like brochures (12X18, 80 lb, duplex, matte), a quartely newsletter (11X17 32 lb, duplex, glossy)
and tech manuals (8.5X11, 60 text, duplex, matte). So, some pretty hefty stuff and I do about 9,000 color copies a quarter which is not much but can take its toll.

I tested the machine but the drivers were really messed up during the presentation and I had to come back to re-do the demo with the local Toshiba sales guys. Left me feeling doubtful on the overall performance of the machine.
The text on my documents kept coming out either blurry or too thick (I wasn't using a rich-text black either). I feel like the machine will not be able work well after a short while-performance wise. That was the feeling I got anyways.

If anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

HI

we use a few of them, the color one we have is a 3510c, and its doing well i should say, all though the older ones, tend to brake constantly.
personally, i would go for something more in the Canon or kyocera range, Epson is also a good printer, just not sure what they have in the bigger units.

hope this helps

  • Hi Betzaida,

My company is looking into purchasing an e-studio 5520 pro. Did you get one yourself in the end and if so what's your verdict on it?

    Thanks

    Hello?
I have a Toshiba e-studio 5520c but its giving me hard time.
We replaced Developer powder for all the colors, after which we did the Automatic gamma adjustment (PRT) - 1008 which passed but the Automatic gamma adjustment (PRT) - 1642 failed to pass, instead, it was giving me an error,So when we print, the image quality is so poor(pale); so please advise?

    Thank you.

    Evening all,

Work at a brewery in the Bay Area, CA.. and we have to process hundreds of invoices a day and hand staple them.. Essentially we print 2 copies of the same invoice and put them together.

Surely there is a simpler way to staple in bulk with this machine? Does a lot of other things well.... But if this machine cant do that, is there another you fine folks would recommend?

Thanks.. If you can fix this problem and happen to live in the bay, I'll personally give you a couple cases of beer
