Hard disk problem - Roland 304

Hello guys

We run a Man Roland 304.

We had a error in the controller, "cant find flash drive (hard drive). We have replaced the disk (two disks) and we had a backup from the older one. The machine boots up with the new disks but we cant make the machine go to the "make ready mode" and get up the normal look for the controls. Its like something is missing.

Any ideas?

The problem is the backup. Make a complete new installation.
Where did you buy the new discs?
What are disks? SSD?

The new discs are from another Roland 300. These are old school hardrive discs

Format, 3-4 partitions on each disk, DOS 6.22, complete new installation. Тhis is the solution.

Will it not work to use the backup from the older disks?
Its like the files get corrupted when we try to install the hard disk with the backup.
Then new installation with the floppy disks?

It is protected, you can not use image from old HD. If you have original IDE HD then you must make 3 partitions on each disc. In DOS 6.22.
Master disc is C,E and G, and slave partitions are D, F and H.
If you have DOS instalation disc from manroland then it is easy, after that you just install LSR program and return saved jobs in XARBEIT and XPOOL in E partition...

Also, manrolan can sell you replacment for HD, two CF cards with housing. Floppy with DOS and instructions how to install it came with cards...
It cost around 1000-1200 €...

If you have discs from another machine just start the instalation of LSR.
5 floopys, PROGRAM DISKETTE 1,2 and 3, language(you must have german, english is option) and konfig floppy.
Turn machine of, put programmdiskette1 in floppy drive and turn it on. Follow procedure...
And you must plug PS2 keyboard because foil keyboard is unusuble in this procedure...

Program floppy 3
German language
Optional language(if you dont have it just skip)
Konfig floppy

If discs are from roland machine then you just make instalation...

I prefer to always partition the disks myself and install the DOS myself. Make 3 identical partisans on each disk and install DOS. Then follow the procedure described above. You need installation disks for DOS 6.22
