Gradient between 2 spot colors, is it possible?

Hi guys, a bit of a silly question that rounds my head. I know the following is mostly done through the CMYK process.

However, I wonder if there is a possible way to create the same effect with a 2 colours print that has a gradient from a solid colour to others?

here my idea:

Perhaps printing the lighter colour first and overprinting the darker afterwards, sort of like this:

I am guessing; since both colour are rich in pigment, the whole thing will turn dark greyish, is there a workaround?

Errr perhaps a two plate gradient? Top left full tone and in mid white and vice versa for other spot -bottom right full tone to mid white-

Duotones are totally possible.
Quite often black is one of the colours but doesn't have to be the case.
Might be challenging to reproduce for a reprint would be my only thoughts.

@Travis If there is enough room for colorbars, or even print in larger paper, to put colorbars it should be easier to reproduce

Might need to experiment with it a bit, but I would suggest starting by running the dark blue as a solid run down first and the green as a gradient on top of the blue. The reason being is that the green would tend to be a more transparent color than the blue. Just be sure that the tack descends from blue to green!!!
