Can anyone recomend a good fountain solution to use SM-74 with Alcolor.
I would like to keep my alcohol @ 10% if possible. We r currently using Saphira FS13 but find we get some picture framming.
    Thaks Gazman:)

We've switched to 2for1 fount on our Komori 626. It replaces IPA and fount, but has properties of both.

We've trialed it for quite a few weeks now and the results are very good indeed. We still have to increase the damps through the day and then reduce down in the morning but I thinks that's a temperature thing.

In fact it's the first fount I've used that actually lives up to its marketing. Print is sharper (we see a lot more openness in the shadow areas of images for example), solids are good (even metallics). The one claim that did interest me was reduction of 'picture framing' on the impression cylinders, whilst it hasn't eliminated this it has reduced it.

I even think there's an Aussie distributer, at least that's where I got the referral from. Try it and let us know how you fare with it.

You should be able to run Alcohol free if you're willing to invest some money in the correct rollers in your dampening system and also willing to invest time in maintenance. I can't see any scenario where you would ever need more than 5% isopropyl alcohol in that press. If you can't run clean with 5%, either the press is ready for the junk heap, or your pressman was just promoted offa the broom!!!
